"Two questions and a validating statement" Rinse, repeat.

Subconsciously this makes people think that you are like them. Gives them a dopamine rush from being around you.

Talk less, learn more.

When you reduce your talking by even 10%, you will learn at least 30% more. Practice pausing before you speak, focus on listening rather than planning your response.

People care about being heard and understood.

They don't care about your point of view, they care about theirs. They care deeply that you understand their opinions. Focus on demonstrating an understanding of their values and opinions.

Build connection through making sure the person feels seen, heard, and feels like you are present with them.

Use emotional questions.

Ask questions about how someone felt during significant moments. This creates both an authentic and enthusiastic connection, and will build natural rapport.

Avoid talking about yourself. Don't push your perspectives before you understand theirs, and don't assume you know what matters to them.

Persuasion leads to Influence. Persuasion is in person. Influence is when you are not present.
